About Us

Woodland Dunes Nature Center and Preserve is a 1300-acre preserve adjacent to the shore of Lake Michigan. We are located on the “bump-out” south of the Door county peninsula and between Two Rivers and Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Our mission is to protect our globally important habitat by maintaining its ecological integrity and educating our community to understand and appreciate nature. We do this through hands-on, nature-based education, special programs & events, and real-life experiences in our preserve.

Step beyond the cities, only a few blocks away and enter an almost timeless environment while hiking our nature trails. Experience our mixed habitats: dune and swale forest, cattail marsh, shrub swamp and native grasslands. Explore the Nature Center, butterfly garden, Little Wings play area and easily accessible boardwalks to learn about this remarkable wild area.
