American Kestrels are North America’s smallest and most colorful falcon, but have been declining steadily over the last three decades. Danny Erickson, a wildlife biologist and master’s student at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, will discuss this bird’s natural history, research, and conservation efforts across Wisconsin. He partners with many citizen scientists, state and local conservation agencies, and stalwart kestrel enthusiasts installing nestboxes to help monitor and conserve this icon of our grasslands. After an indoor presentation, optional field trip to the preserve to look for this bird.
